So that Carlos Hill, head honcho of the local HYIP (High Yield Investment Program) Cashplus Ltd, turned out to be quite an orator. My sources told me that he had crowd eating out of his hands. A newspaper article claimed that he assured the anxious crowd that Cashplus was here to stay ‘to thunderous applause’. Well I felt like applauding too.
Whenever he’s tired of buying hotels and media houses, sponsoring football leagues and whatever else he has planned to convince us all that his company is legit and here to stay, he can always go dabble in politics. He certainly got the gift of gab and has the art of persuasion down pat.
Good for him. Good for me too actually. I just hope it doesn’t turn out to be purely sophistry.
It also seems that I’ve never truly been aware of my appetite to take risks until these ’schemes’ appeared on the scene. Somehow I’ve developed a yen for walking on the wild side and playing russian roulette with my hard-earned funds. So it wasn’t enough to dump (wrong choice of word?) in Cashplus Ltd so I had to put some in WorldWise Partners too.
Time will tell whether my decision was a wise one. They say hindsight is 20/20.
In the meantime, I’m happy that Carlos Hill was able to allay the fears and prevent what might have been a run on Cashplus and the possible demise of my dreams of being a wealthy woman in a couple years. I still don’t know if there’s any truth to the rumours that abound.
Oh well.

I’m still undecided as to whether or not I should just go ahead and take the plunge.

hmm.. the allure of easy money. I guess I will remain a pauper for now.
My friend was at that meeting and she was enraged when I started to point out the negative things the media had been highlighting about Carlos Hill.
Like: his previous fraud convictions in the states.
I’m just waiting for them to publish their audited financials as they claim they will do to see how healthy their business really is. As far as I am concerned cash plus needs to have a money press in the back to be able to sustain this 18% they are promising now. I crunched the numbers and an investment of $100k for 5 years would make one a multi billionaire. Really and truely.. where is that money supposed to come from?
it seems like they just increased the intrest rates to catch the remaining fish out there that want to be caught .. just my opinion though :p

I’m afraid I’m with Adrian on this one - until I see some financial statements, I’m not taking the risk. However, when you retire in 5 years, I’ll be wishing I was a rish taker too!

Oh, I’m curious too to see their financials. Especially since they say that they don’t do fx trading and I can’t see what’s generating the kind profits that enable them to pay out that much.
But what the heck, I’m enjoying getting 10% in the meantime. I wonder if anyone actually agree to tie up their funds for 5 years? That’s the only way you can 18%/mth. Now THAT’S risky!
I know a couple people who trade fx privately and been encouraging me to do the same and they say that it’s possible to get that kind of return though.

I’m really too young to say I have any experience with many companies like Cash Plus, but I’ve spoken to my father who has seen a number of these companies come and go, and seen his friends lose much of their savings to them. And he says the key to these places is to put your money in, and take it out in quite time, before the inevitable crash-and-burn.

Oh yes, as long as I have my principal back (and you get that back + 100% in 7mths) and then some, I’ll happily risk the extra. I don’t plan to let my money stay put for 5 year without moving it. Though to be honest I’ve heard of people who’ve been with Cashplus over 3years.

After reading Wednesday’s Observer, I went online and read some of the court documents and see that Carlos Hill has essentially done the same thing in the US before. Also saw the federal prison he was in and his release date!
Again he has never shown any financial documents when demanded also stalling!!

It certainly seems like the final nail in the coffin. I’m just watching how all this plays out. Well, so far Worldwise seems ok, Chairman assured his clients that the accounts remain open and even if they’re closed, it won’t affect his operations negatively. Great.
Oh well, let’s see.

Hey chill out, that was in the past.
People can change, I believe Carlos is doing a tremendous thing for ordinary Jamaicans.
We should all hope for the best and stop preaching doom and gloom.
You are either in or out. I you are out keep your negative comments to yourself.
:( just joined // December 18, 2007 at 7:50 am
After months of procrastination i finally decided to join in august everything was going fine until now, i really believe this scheme is going down he can not sustain it the longer he takes to pay out the more money he will owe. Its pointless to go join the long line only to receive a cheque that the bank wont honour all we can do now is sit, wait and PRAY

If I had the money I would’ve invested in Cash Plus too. I guess that is one up for being poor. But a eediat ting de people dem a deal wid. How can Carlos give whole a 10% interest per month and the banks cant even give 10% per year. I know its high risk and yada yada and sone money laundering probably involved but still. 10% is a lot and I think the banks can do a whole lot better.

Cashplus did its tenure, now its time to move on… esp in regards to the negative feedback from the FSC who claim they were “protecting” J’cans. I could not wait for Mar 2008, bcuz i wanted to dump in sum more cash an relax more.. But lets see what world wise has to offer!

Well .. looks like he got what he deserved. Back at end of 2007 he was so full off himself he could not see his own shoes.
I told him he was an idiot (in polite terms) and that his hairbrain scheme would flop. It happened right on schedue too.
Now it looks like back to prison for him. (Didnt see his brother - what’s the scoop there?)
