My cellphone so badly needs replacing. I have finally decided to get myself one. After spending considerable time on CNET reviewing the different phones, I have narrowed the choices down to three. I’m having a little difficulty deciding which I should get so I decided to solicit your assistance :)
Ok, here are the pictures of the phones and you can read about them too. So which one are you feeling? Phone#1 Motorola A630, Phone#2 Sony Ericcson w300i, and Phone#3 Motorola Razr V3 (in no particular order).
If you own any of them you may tell me what it’s like. That would also help in my decision.
I will be ordering the chosen phone online so that I can pick it up when I’m in the States next month.
Oh, my friends been saying that I should forget the razr since I’m such a klutz. My phone drops about 3 times per day (on a good day) ![]()

For me, once it can mek and receive calls, I cool. Not into the damn cell phone hype at all. These things practically disposable.

Mi other half didn’t click de links U provided, he just indicated de Razr. But then at de end o’ your post, U said your friends don’t recommend it. Ah don’t even pretend 2 know which is trendiest these days.

motorollas are stylish I don’t know about anything else but I can tell you that much. I’m waiting for the new ones to push down the prices of the old ones so that I can get a SLVR.
why is this post tagged Jamaica Heritage?

Owen, after trying for the umpteen time to set up the categories, I manage to set up only one and then I notice that all the post are in that one. Still working on it. You can get the SLVR online (tigerdirect) for what seems like a reasonable price.

I have a baby pink razor - it is very cute but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as it drops calls all the time. As someone who also drops phones frequently (a habit I’m tryingto break with this phone!), i recommend anything by nokia - those are the phones that have stood up best to my treatment in the past!

Nokias are tough, from what I recall. I have a Razr, its ok. Mine doesn’t drop calls far as I know, but then I live in Cayman, which flat like piece of board. If you drop phones a lot, perhaps you shouldn’t get the RAZR. It doesn’t look like it would be the toughest phone around to me…

I have quite a few friends with the Razr, and they have dropped call problems. They cuss the phone all of the time. It seems to be all form and no substance. Personnally, I love a Nokia phone. Easy to use, and stylish.

My son, who is the house expert, says pass on the razor they’re junk, the nokia will eat batteries so get the motorola. I have a blue phone. Like cars, that is sufficient information for me.

Personally, I’m not a Motorola fan. Your best bet for a reliable cell phone is a nokia, samsung, sony ericsson. Check out http://www.gsmarena.com and you can see a wider range of cell phones. I recommend a nokia. If you must choose from the ones you said, the Sony Ericsson is my pick.

I have The V3 and it works well for me. if you don’t want the razr go for the sony
Leon // October 24, 2006 at 12:28 am
Rich girl. I can only afford a simple non-colour, non-flip, handful of features phone. Another reason to forget the Razr: it makes you quite robbable
bassChocolate // October 24, 2006 at 3:52 pm
Leon’s right, Razrs make you a target. I personally have never bought a phone over $5K. My phone works for me one it has polyphonic ringtones and WAP access. I’ll get a digital camera if I need to taake pictures. I’ll use my laptop for bluetooth capabilities. I’ll store music on my PC. My phone doesn’t need to do all that.
Nokias are the strongest phones. If you drop your phone alot, a Nokia is for you. But since that wasn’t among your options, I’d pick the Moto A630.
scratchie // October 24, 2006 at 4:40 pm
Whatever you do stay away from the Sony Ericcsons. I have changed 3 in not as many years. Waste of money. I have a Motorola V635 now. Not bad but I’m not sure about how well it will react to dropping. Son has a V3 that he saved and bought with his summer job. I agree with the others, it makes you a target. Some of the V3 had battery faults as well. Personally I think the V3 are overrated hype. Best of all worlds is either the regular motorolas or Nokias. (P.S. I disagree with Kat’s son about the Nokia, they probably have the best battery life of all the phones now available).

You all are so helpful. Even though I stipulated those 3, I really appreciated hearing about other possibilities. Ok, here’s what I decided.
I wanted a camera phone and didn’t want to spend too much- budget=US$200 inclusive of tax and shipping charges. And if I can spend less than that I’d definitely prefer to. The SE w300i really shouldn’t have been included because it was over -US$220. After listening to what you all (and others) had to say, and bearing in mind that I’m a master klutz - I decide to eliminate the razr. So that left the moto A630 which I was looking at in a really positive way. Then the IT person from my company came back from his vacation in the US with a moto v360. At a price of $130 it was looking good too. In addition to that, it came with some bells and whistles (which I don’t mind having just refuse to pay for it) -camera, video recorder, music player, full blue tooth connectivity, usb outlet, blah, blah. I was hooked. It was within budget.
At your urging, I still decided to check out Nokia, I know they’re good phones. The one within budget costs $160 with less features (when did Nokia phones get so expensive?) and since I’m a cheap ass I decide to still go with the moto v360.
So now I’m going to order. I was planning to send it to my Mom’s house in Florida until I found out that I won’t pay any tax if I send it to DC (where I’ll be for about 2 days) so that’s where it’s going. Told ya, I’m a cheapo
Thanks all. I just hope this phone lasts me more than the 6mths that my last two phones lasted for.

Ok, why am I not able to post to comment? Let me see if it will accept this.

motos are always good choices

Alot of people put me off the RAZR calling it a ‘one drop’ phone. Then I ‘got’ one [the way men 'get' babies ] and I loved it so much I bought the SLVR which can tek lick better. The RAZR is a sexy phone. Thats my girlie-i-love-pretty-things opinion.

Thanks for your comments on my site. You are very encouraging.

I am a Nokia girl. I too am a klutz, so it works fine for me. And like Dr D, once it can make and receive calls and texts, that’s all I need. and oh, an alarm to wake me up.
And I’ve never bought a phone. If my sister hadn’t bought one for me about 3 years ago, I wouldn’t have a celle phone. And when I came to Grenada, one of my colleagues gave me a spare one she had. Both Nokia, both work ok, even though the one my sister bought, the keys are sometimes hard to press. But it’s fine.

Did you get your new phone?
Heh, be careful where you leave your phone, you should see what happened to my friend the other day…
Gela // October 27, 2006 at 6:53 pm
Well, I already ordered it, will pick it when I’m in the States next month. What happened to your friend? Share.
Stunner // October 28, 2006 at 9:09 pm
I really don’t like Motarolla phones, but I can’t view the Sony Ericsson from your link, so I guess I will have to say the Razr. I am a Samsung yute, so most Samsung phones with adequate features will be my pic. I am currently looking for a new phone, …Samsung of course…just waiting on some funds.
